Organized the auction of Vermeer's remaining paintings

Date:
March 15, 1677

Leeuwenhoek organized the auction of the paintings of Vermeer that he had been able to recover. The auction happened under the protests of Vermeer's mother-in-law Maria Thins who thought that at least one of the paintings was hers. The proceeds paid some of the debts of Vermeer's widow Catherina.
