Full title:

Natuurs Verborgentheden Ontdekt: zijnde een Tweede Vervolg der Brieven, geschreven aan de Koninglijke Societeit tot Londen

Nature's Mysteries Discovered: being the Second Continuation of the Letters, written to the Royal Society in London

On the title page, the first edition says, Gedrukt by Andries Voorstad, Boek-drukker en Boek-verkooper, op de Markt bezyden 't Stad-huys (printed by Andries Voorstad, Book-printer and Book-seller, on the Markt beside the Stadhuis).

Ten years later, Leeuwenhoek switched printers to his next-door neighbor Hendrik Cronevelt, who published a second edition of the Tweede Vervolg in 1697. The title page says, Gedrukt by Henrik van Kroonevelt, Boek-drukker en Boek-verkooper op de Hoek van de Nieuwe-straat (printed by Henrik van Kroonevelt, Book-printer and Bookseller on the Corner of the Nieuwestraat).

Dobell #12: Letters 61 - 67

AB/CL # 106 - 110, 113, 114

ii + 157-350 (mispaginated after p. 260)

Letters all numbered. 6 plates, including that of No. 11

  • front matter
  • title page
  • one page of main topics (voornaamste zaaken) in the seven letters, summaries of the summaries at the beginning of every letter. No page numbers next to the items.

In 1688, Voorstad published Letter 65 separately as Den waaragtigen omloop des bloeds, paginated 1-30. In some bundles, this printing with this pagination comes between Letters 64 and 66.

Dobell #12a:

Second edition, Kroonevelt 1697, same as 12

Pagination of Letter 65 is different, but still incorrect. In both 1689 and 1697 versions, letter 66 begins with page 299, but it should be 291. Kroonevelt re-typeset the text but he was working from Voorstad's version, not from manuscript.
