The original manuscript on eight quarto pages, written and signed by Leeuwenhoek, is preserved at the Royal Society (MS. 2073, L 4. 22). The original drawings are lost.
Leeuwenhoek's summary Leeuwenhoek did not include the letters from 1702-04-28 (AB 237) through 1712-06-10 (AB 294) among his self-published and thus self-numbered letters. Those with scientific observations were all addressed to members of the Royal Society and almost all of them were excerpted in Philosophical Transactions .
Reception in London The letter was read in the meeting of the Royal Society on October 27, 1708 O.S. (Royal Society, Journal Book Original , vol. II, p. 151).
They published it in Philosophical Transactions no. 319 for January and February 1709.
The original English translation on eight folio pages is preserved at the Royal Society (MS. 2074, L 4. 23). The original drawings are lost.
