John Aubrey

An antiquary and writer, Aubrey was Founder Fellow of the Royal Society in 1663.

In November 1677, Aubrey was one of the nine witnesses to the replication of Leeuwenhoek's observations, as noted in Birch's History. The demonstration, done by Robert Hooke at a weekly meeting of the Royal Society, led to Leeuwenhoek's being elected a Fellow in 1680.
