Jan Jacobs Hogenhouck

Patronymic:
Jacobs
Other name:
Jan Jacobs in ’t Ossenhooft
Antony's:
great great-grandfather Jan
Baptism:
1539
Death or Burial date:
January 1, 1586

He was a cloth seller, member of the Veertigraad, and Delft's first mayor after Independence in 1573.

He got his name from his boyhood(?) home, the Ossenhooft on the Markt, west side of the Bijbelbrug.

When he bought the house on D0197 now Brabantse Turfmarkt 76-78, the largest property on the block, he used the name again and throughout his life as part of his own name.

Achter de Gevels says he owned other property, including on Hippolytusbuurt, but I can't find evidence in Historisch GIS Delft.
